SWIMMING

Swimming has been fun. I think I'm more nervous about dunking Crew than he is, and he's the one getting dunked. He does a great job at back floating. I hold onto his shoulder blades and he let's me pull him around the pool. He is very relaxed and observant in the pool.

We were going every Saturday morning with our friends, but Ryan is now working every Saturday so we will finish this months swimming lessons by going Mondays. That way Ryan gets a chance to bound, swim and dunk Crew... I need a break!

I'm trying to figure out if I want to keep going to swimming lessons with Crew or do something else like Little Gym, Living Planet Aquarium. Hmmm what to do?!

LITTLE POOPER

This little dude know how to poop, and recently it's been on me! Twice this month at my parents house. Not to mention I was practically wearing the same outfit both times!

Gross I know! It was poring out the back of his diaper. All of a sudden I felt a rush of warmth followed by the smell. Then in the picture below you see my mom teasing my dad as my dad runs out of the room gagging! It was hilarious!

The picture above was round two of getting pooped on! At least this time I was smart and packed extra clothes in the car just in case! Now I never leave home with out extra clothes for myself! The first time I didn't have extra clothes, but luckily I was at my parent's and my mom let me barrow some of hers.

GROWING UP

Crew is growing up before our eyes! I've noticed when we are out and about I get a lot of people mentioning how small he is, keep in mind they are comparing him to their 3-year-old. To me he is not so little anymore considering he was 6 pounds 2 ounces when he was born and now he's probably pushing 17 pounds!

Just this week Crew has matured into two new phases... stranger danger, and mama's boy! We were at Ryan's company party and several people wanted to hold him. Within seconds he looked back at Ryan and I then at the person holding him and got big alligator tears along with his pouty lip, which was promptly followed by a cry. Oh I was hoping he would by pass this stage. It makes me sad to see him so nervous. I hope this doesn't last too long. As for the mama's boy phase, my mom started noticing he tries to get my attention by doing this little cough. Sure enough, he does it at home too. He's totally trying to get my attention. Might I add, he sure loves his daddy too! They have so much fun together. Ryan has been doing the elephant noise and action for months with Crew and just recently he has picked it up. Now he makes the elephant noise and will sometimes do the arm motion with it. It is so cute!

Crew also hit a big milestone this month...he is sitting up by himself. We don't dare let him sit unattended, but he can sit for quite sometime before toppling over. We are so proud of our sweet Crew boy!

I also love how people notice what an amazing baby Crew is when we are out in public. He rarely puts up a fuss, he's very easy going and loves to smile and laugh. I ask myself all the time...how did we get so luck?! Oh, and he sleeps through the night! He's been doing so since he was 3-months-old! I hope our next baby is just as sweet and good!

Once in awhile he likes to help mom out and hold the bottle!

I can't believe we are nearly half way through February, and Crew will be 6-months-old on the 17th! Wowza! The winter this year has been wonderful. Warmer temps, snow in the mountains and not a lot of smog. I could get use to this! Here's what we've been up to these days...

I love peeking at Crew through his crib. He is such a cutie pie!

Something new. I use to play in the laundry basket as a child so I decided I would introduce Crew to the laundry basket since he is doing great at sitting up! He loved it!

Crew goes swimming

We decided to sign Crew up for swimming lessons now so he gets use to the water and will hopefully not be scared when it comes time to really learn how to swim. Every Saturday morning we meet our good friends Matt, Haley and their adorable little girl Abby for a little play time in the water.

I was a little hesitant at first because I was worried about submersing Crew under water at such a young age... 5 months, but I did some research and found that most babies remember the womb and being surrounded by water. That being said, they have a natural instinct to hold their breath. Well Crew did better than I thought. Not much coughing, but the first dunk he did look a bit shocked and was gasping a little bit. I think I was more freaked out than he was. The next dunk he did better and ended up spitting water out. None the less, the class is fun and we sing songs, practice floating, grabbing onto the wall and of course the notorious dunk!

Like I mentioned before, I did some research and watched tons of YouTube videos before enrolling him and some of kids know how to swim by their first birthday. It was unbelievable watching these children fall into the water and know how to swim to the surface, flip over onto their back and call for help by the age of 1.

Now here's the kicker... I was especially excited to sign Crew up for swimming because I thought it would be great bonding time for Ryan and Crew, but now Ryan has to work nearly every Saturday. Of course this would happen! Not sure what to do... stay in the Saturday class with our friends, move to another day so Ryan can go or just drop the class all together. UGH!! Why can't things just run smoothly??!

Rice Cereal

January 22, 2012 Ryan and I decided it was time for Crew to try Rice Cereal. I've been working with Crew on eating with a spoon by using water. We've done this for 3 weeks and he caught on quick. So rather than waiting to the 6 month mark, we decided to have him start the cereal at 5 months. At his 4 month check up his pediatrician said we could start rice cereal when ever we wanted. I felt 4 months was too young and 6 months was too far away so 5 months seemed perfect, and what do you know, he likes it! I can't wait to give him veggies and fruit in another month!

Thumb sucking...

The past month Crew has found his thumb and is now using it as a way to sooth himself. He use to take the binky, but not any more. At first was concerned, wondering how I was going to break him from the habit in the near future. Thinking about the terrible stories I've heard about thumb suckers... "you can't take their thumb away, it will ruin his teeth, he'll get sores on his thumb" etc.

That's when I came to my sences and realized he's only a baby, and I'm not going to try and reinforce the binky, I tried for a couple days and he wasn't having it, it makes him happy and makes him feel secure. He is also attached to his Minky blanket and when he's old enough I will let him sleep with that. Maybe he will transition from his thumb to his blanket for comfort and security. For now I'm going to let Crew be a happy thumb sucking baby! I'll deal with breaking the habit later!!! Oh and did I mention it's a life saver when it comes to sleeping through the night! Crew has always been pretty good at sleeping at night from about 2 months until now, but now that he has his thumb, he sleeps about 10-11 hours every night! Nope, I'm not complaining!

I also added some pictures of his cousin who is 18 day older than Crew, who also sucks his thumb... so cute! I wonder if Crew taught him how to do this when they came to visit last month?!

Quess who's 5 months!!!

Our baby boy is 5-months-old! Everyone tells me that time goes by fast, and to cherish every minute. Looking back to when Crew was born I remember the first few weeks wishing time would go faster due to sleep deprivation. Now I have mixed feelings. I'm excited for what's to come in the near future... trying new foods, sitting up, crawling, talking, walking, etc. Then again, I am sad... my baby boy is getting bigger every day. It's almost difficult to remember holding a little 6 pound 2 ounce baby in our arms. Now we hold a 16 pound baby who loves to laugh, babble, suck his thumb, roll over, eat rice cereal, cuddle and almost sitting up on his own. Crew is the sweetest baby! He is so well behaved and easy going, unless he is overly tired, but aren't we all cranky when we're tired? I know I am!

Happy New Year! New Years Eve... I decided to practice feeding Crew with water. At first he didn't know what to think and started spitting it out. After a few more tries he got the hang of it and now likes it! We plan on starting him on rice cereal at six months. For now, I will continue to get him use to the spoon and water. :)

YAY, I am almost caught up with blogging!

Here we are at the end of December. Christmas was fun. Crew didn't understand it at all, but next year will be even better. Don't think we didn't spoil him this year! ;) Crew got teething toys, blankets to play on, another/bigger minky blanket and Signing Time DVDs. We are working with him on sign language... wish us luck!

Ryan got a new TV for Christmas, and I got a new dishwasher, pots and pans and boots. Santa spoiled us too!

Crew is nearly 4 1/2 months. We went for his 4 month check up Tuesday, and he is doing great! He is 15.6 lbs (45th percentile) and nearly 25 inches long (15th percentile). The doctor said he is doing great as far as growth, and looks healthy, despite the stuffy nose. Dr. Zarbock also said I could start him on rice cereal if I wanted, but I think I'm going to wait until Crew is six-months-old.

We also had a great time with Ryan's twin brother's family. They flew into town and stayed with us for a week. We finally got to meet our newest nephew Charlie. He is only 18 days older than Crew... how cool is that! It was so nice having them here. Makes me wish they were still living here. I sure hope they move back after Brandon is done with PT school. It would be awesome to have Charlie and Crew grow up together. Not to mention we miss them so much! They are too far away!

This month we found out that Ryan's sister is having fraternal twins!!! She is 13 weeks along and we are so excited!!! Crew will be 10 months older than the twins! She finds out what the sex of the babies are in a few weeks. Her due date is July 2nd, but the doctor said they will probably arrive early... first of June! Very exciting news!

TWO MONTH PROFESSIONAL PICTURES:
I can't believe Crew is two-months-old!! The first month was a little rough with a new baby and gal bladder surgery, but now I am feeling much better and figuring out motherhood one day at a time.
I have made it my goal to get professional pictures of Crew done every month until his first birthday. I'm sure a lot of you are wondering why I'm not taking them. Well it's difficult to be in the picture, posing a baby and taking the picture so I'm leaving it up to Foto Fly to help me out. They are doing a terrific job!

Bath Time: Crew wasn't too sure about bath time until now. He is figuring out how to move his hands and legs through the water. He's starting to splash and realize baths are fun. I won't be able to bath him on my vanity for much longer due to the splashin fun!

Crew's One Month!

The first month went by so fast. Looking back I don't remember a ton of it due to sleep deprivation and gal bladder surgery. I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband and son. Being a Mom is an amazing thing, and it gets better everyday! :)

Three weeks after having Crew I had to have my I had my gal bladder removed. I had six stones that I thought were going to kill me! Let me explain...I remember waking up one night and I had the worst pain in my chest and upper back. I thought I was having heart problems. I remember taking some heartburn medication thinking it was severe heartburn. I was able to get myself back to sleep and was fine the next day.

Two nights later, 1:00am it came back with a vengeance and this time I was really scared and in pain! I would take labor pain over this pain ANY day! I remember sitting in bed contemplating on waking Ryan up, getting Crew ready and going to the hospital. Before I new it Ryan woke up and asked if I was ok. I told him I was not and that I was in a lot of pain. I told him there's no way this is heartburn. He asked if we needed to go to the hospital and I said yes. All I could think about was...what if I am having a heart attack and I die, leaving Ryan with a three-week-old baby. I was so scared, not to mention Crew was due to eat in an hour. Luckily I had pumped the night before and could take the bottle to the hospital. As we were getting ready things went from bad to worse in a matter of minutes. Before I new it I could hardly move or talk. Ryan asked me multiple time, "do I need to call an ambulance?" I looked at him and nodded yes because I could not talk the pain was so bad. Within five minutes the paramedics were here hooking me up to monitors and taking me out the the firetruck. Yes, I rode in a firetruck/ambulance. All I could think about was Ryan and Crew and the horrific pain I was in. I just wanted the pain to stop. I wanted to go to IMC, but the paramedics said with the amount of pain I was in the wanted to get me to a hospital ASAP so they took me to Pioneer Hospital. Turns out they took me into the same room Ryan was in after he was hit on him motorcycle...crazy ha!

I finally got drugged up and the pain had subsided to I could finally talk. Ryan and Crew showed up shortly after I had arrived. They took me back and did an ultra sound and found the stones. The doctor mentioned I would probably need my gal bladder out soon. So he gave me a recommendation and said to go see him first thing that morning...which was a Friday. We then left the hospital at 5am. Ryan had to go to work at 9am. I felt so bad because none of us slept that night.

I went and saw the specialist at 10am that morning, and he scheduled me for surgery for Monday. So here I was with a three-week-old baby and getting my gal bladder out...WOW! We all survived and I will say this, for me, child birth is a lot easier than having your gal bladder out!

I was so excited I made it through pregnancy without a single stretchmarks or C-section, and now I have gal bladder scares...nice!

The first month went by way to fast! I really don't remember the first two weeks at all, probably due to sleep deprivation! I am so glad a took a photo of Crew nearly everyday. It amazes me how much he changes, grows and does something new everyday. We are so in love with our little man!

The Birth Story

It all started with my 38 week appointment. It was Wednesday, August 10th. I was going for the usual weekly appointment. Little did I know it was going to be an interesting appointment.

Dr. Sharp was really busy that day so I saw his PA Erin, whom I've been seeing on and off throughout my pregnancy. Let me just quickly add... I absolutely adore Erin and Dr. Sharp, they make a great team! Back to the appointment, so Erin begins measuring my stomach and she has this strange look on her face. She looks at me and says hmmm... let me remeasure. She measures again and has the same face. She then looked at me and said you are measuring small. I thought to myself WHAT!! This entire pregnancy I have been either 1-2cm big or right on track. So this was a first. Erin said you should be measuring at 38cm and you are measuring at 34cm. WOW, that was a big difference. Now I understood the face she gave, but what did that mean. She said the baby could be laying on an angle, my uterus could be tilted, I could be loosing fluid, etc. Well I knew I wasn't loosing fluid so Erin scheduled me to have a ultra sound Friday, August 12th. She told me not to worry and reassured me Crew's heart rate sounded great and she just wants to make sure he has enough fluid. So I didn't worry about it.

Well the next day wasn't any easier because my Grandpa, my Mom's dad, passed away. He was 89 years old. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease a year and a half ago, and he had been in and out of the hospital the past few months were they found out he was only receiving 30 of blood flow to his brain. I was very close to my Grandpa and it was hard to know he was gone, but a relief that he wasn't suffering anymore.
A few weeks before he passed, my Mom and I went out to see him. He was fortunate to be at home for the last days of his life were hospice came in and helped my Grandma and Uncle take care of him. I wanted my Grandpa to see me pregnant and "meet" Crew because I knew he wouldn't be around to officially meet him in person on Earth. It was an amazing experience to say the least. I got to take my 3D picture of Crew and share them with him. He even got to fill Crew move and kick around inside me. It brought a smile to his face and a tear to my eye. My Mom then said, "see dad, you got to see me as a Grandma!" My Grandpa always gave Ryan, myself and my Mom a hard time by saying, "when am I going to see you as a Grandam??" It was a touching moment that I will always treasure. I love you Grandpa Buddy, and miss you so much already.

Friday came around and it was time for my ultra sound. So I went in and they started doing all the necessary measurements and checking Crew's heart beat and blood flow. It was so fun to see him again, and wow had he filled up that space in my uterus. I hadn't seen him since my 26 week appointment.
The radiologist said everything looked fine and that there seemed to be enough fluid for Crew. Well that was a relief. She said he's just going to be a small baby... probably around 5 lbs 9 oz. I thought to my self wow, that is small. Then again, I was only 6 lbs 7oz and Ryan was 5 lbs 13oz. So I wasn't expecting to have a 7 or 8 lbs baby.
She left the room to take the pictures and info to the doctor. Ten minutes later she came back and asked me if I was delivering at the U of U. I told her yes. Then she walked out and was gone for another 10 minutes. She came back and said is your doctor here? I said well yes, my doctor is Dr. Sharp down in clinic 4. She said ok, meet me out in the lobby after you get cleaned up. Now I was really concerned! I go out and she said would you be ready to deliver today or tomorrow? I said in a slow and concerned voice/look... yes. She said ok, please have a seat in the waiting room while I contact Dr. Sharp. I immediately got on the phone with Ryan and told him what was going on. I told him I would call him as soon as I had more information. I then called my Mom and told her to be on standby. I waited for about 20 minutes and she came back and said ok, we are going to do a none stress test on you. I thought to myself, this day is getting longer and longer.
So I go in get strapped up for the test. Of course Crew was sound asleep and not moving much so they had to put a buzzer up to my stomach and freak Crew out to show that his heart rate would go up with movement. I sat there for 30 minutes. The test came back fine and they said everything looked great. They said we will wait until your appointment next Wednesday to do anything. I was a little disappointed because they had gotten me so excited about having Crew that day if not the next day, which would have been perfect because Ryan would have had Friday-Monday off... oh well! So I went back to work... boo!
A few hours later I got a phone call from Dr. Sharp saying this morning appointment sounded a little crazy and to give him a call if I had questions. Boy did I ever have questions. So I called him and he explained to me that they are thinking my placenta is small and Crew may not be getting enough nutrients. He told me not to worry because the fluid levels were fine and the NST came back fine. He than said he wanted to see me next Tuesday, August 16th rather than Wednesday, August 17th. He also hinted at the idea of starting my labor Tuesday, but it was never confirmed. He mentioned possibly doing another NST Tuesday.

Well next Tuesday came, and Erin came in to measure me. I was still measuring small. She then asked if I wanted her to scrape my membrane. I had heard about this from a friend, it's suppose to help start labor so I said sure. WOW did that hurt! I swear her entire hand was up me twisting around Crew's head... oh wait... that's exactly what was happening. Then she looked at my chart and said why are we doing another stress test? I told her I was going to ask you the same question. So she steps out and I over hear her talking with Dr. Sharp. That's when I hear Dr. Sharp say, "I have her scheduled to come in at 8 o'clock tonight to be induced." Music to my ears! I felt like crying, passing out, screaming with excitement, etc. All these emotions ran through my body. Then Dr. Sharp walked in the room and said how would you like to get started tonight on having this baby. I said I would love to!
After leaving the office I called Ryan and told him the story. It was perfect because Ryan could wrap up things at work and have time to come home help me pack and go. We we even had time to hit up Jimmy Johns for our favorite subs!

We checked in at 8:00p and by 9:00p I was hooked up and they had started the labor process. The first few hours weren't bad accept I could not sleep with the heart monitor beeping, the blood pressure cuff inflating every hour and not to mention the excitement and anticipation on our little boy joining our family!! Ryan got a little shut eye here and there. He was so sweet and pulled the couch...aka his bed for the night, right next to my bed. Oh I love my hubby!

Around 2a the nurses came in and put "balloon" like devise inside of me to help get me dilating. That wasn't fun at all! Then they went a way and a few more hours went by and that's when I began to feel what a contraction was and all I can say is WOW...contractions hurt! I could handle the pain for awhile, Ryan held my hand and I would breathe through them.

Between 4-5a I was dilated to a 6 I looked at Ryan and said I NEED that epidural. So the nurse came in and told me the anesthesiologist just went to the ER to help someone else, and after that there was one woman ahead of me. She told me it would be an hour and a half. I wanted to die! At one point during my contractions I would stand, sit, walk and hunch over my bed. I could not get comfortable and Ryan just held me! Not more than 30 minutes went by and to my surprise the anesthesiologist came walking in my room and said I'm here early. Music to my ears!! The epidural wasn't bad at all. I am not afraid of needles, that is if I can watch them. So I was a little nerves about this one, but everything went perfectly. Didn't hurt one bit!

After getting the epidural I noticed it was only working on my left side. I could feel everything on my left side. It was painful, but not near as painful as feeling the pain on both sides. At least this way I could "relax" and Ryan could get a little more shut eye. So I continued watching What Not To Wear on TLC and the nurses kept bringing me Tiger's Blood flavored ice chips, they were so good! That's all I could eat since I requested the epidural.

Around 10a Dr. Sharp was there, such a relief, and I was dilated at an 8. Wow I was getting close. He said another hour or two and we will be there, and he was right. Just after 12 noon, I told Ryan we need to get Dr. Sharp in here because I feel like I need to push. Sure enough I was ready to push. I could feel Crew's head on my right side pushing down...craziest feeling ever. I had two contractions and his head was out. Dr. Sharp told me to reach down to fill his head. What an amazing experience! Then two more contractions and Crew was in my arms! Yep, I pushed him out in four contractions...15 minutes! It was an amazing experience. I was one of the lucky ones who didn't tear too much, just enough for one stitch! The first thing I did after they took Crew off my chest was looked down my gown to see if my pregnant belly was gone. LOL It was still there, but deflated.

Ryan ran over and started getting pictures of the nurses measuring and weighing Crew. He also got pictures of me, and the funny thing is...I don't remember him taking the pictures. Then I requested a picture of Ryan, Crew, Dr. Sharp and I. The whole experience was magical and I hope our next baby is just as magical!

I waited in the delivery room for an hour. Ryan and I were getting to know our little bean and texting family and friends to let them know Crew had arrived! I could not stop staring at him and thinking...We are parents! I still think that to this day and Crew is 2 1/2 months old.

I was then transferred into the postpartum section of the hospital. Our room was great! It had an awesome view of Rice Eccles Stadium, and we could see the U of U helicopter take off and land. Around 5p we had my family come and meet their grandson and nephew. The look on their face was priceless. Shortly after we had Ryan's mom, sister, Grace, Megan and Will come meet their grandson, nephew and cousin. It was a great night!

They had us stay at the hospital for two days. Those two days are somewhat of a blur because there really was no sleeping with nurses walking in and out every two hours and then Crew waking up to feed. I only had Crew go to the nursery for one night, well 3 hours, but it was worth getting 3 hours of shut eye.

Then it was time to take Crew home!!! I was so excited and nervous to take him home. I kept thinking really...we can take him home?! Yep, we are parents now! :)

Quick glimpse of July 2011...

Spent the 4th of July with Ryan's sister's family. It was a BLAST!! We started the morning off with the Murray Parade, followed by breakfast at The Village Inn, then went to Murray Park for a carnival, then went home for a rest, then went back to Kristin's house for fireworks. It was a great 4th!

36 weeks pregnant and counting...4 more weeks to go!

Craw Fish experience...my last! I wanted to give craw fish a try. I'm glad I did, but I will NEVER eat it again. It was offal. Maybe it was because I was pregnant, but still, it was terrible.

Picking weeds was my favorite pass time while pregnant. It got me out of the house and I felt like I was accomplishing something with out getting winded and tired. Great therapy for me!

Ryan got stepped on twice during his soccer game, and this was the after math. Once I saw him get stepped on the first time I could tell he was in pain because he was limping and trying his hardest to run and continue playing. Usually if Ryan gets injured it's not bad enough to stop running or limping. He came off the field shortly after to take a breather, then went back out to have the same thing happen again. Poor guy!

I celebrated my "Golden Birthday" this month on the 29th. For those of you who aren't sure what a Golden Birthday is...let me explain. It's when you turn the age of the day you were born. So yes, I turned 29 this year...yes, I'm getting old. lol One of the best birthdays ever!!

Ryan and I vs the Robins!

I never thought I would be writing about this, but I was almost attacked by a Robin. It all began Friday after work. The weather was perfect for planting my flowers in my front yard around our Maple tree. I got all my planting equipment together and went to plant. Not more than five minutes into planting I a felt a rush of wind above my head. I looked around thinking to myself...what the heck was that. Maybe it was just a burst of wind? Then all of a sudden I heard a Robin making a ton of noise and it sounded really close. I look up and there is a male Robin on my roof. I knew there was a Robin's nest in the tree because a few weeks back I did all the weeding around the tree and had no problem, and the mom didn't seem to mind me.

Well as I looked up and saw this Robin freaking out at me I just sat and watched it thinking no way that Robin was the "wind" I felt above my head. Not more than 30 seconds later he dive bombed me coming a few inches from my head. Oh my gosh I was under attack. It was funny, scary and just unbelievable. Is a Robin really trying to attack me?? Oh yes!! Once again the mom could care less, but the dad was so mad.

I didn't think Ryan would believe me if I told him I was being attacked by a Robin so I decided to grabbed my phone and took video of the Robin trying to attack me.

Well after the close call I decided to work on the planting in the backyard, but all weekend long I couldn't help but think I need to get my flowers planted in the front or they were going to die. I then came up with an idea that would protect my head for the 15 minutes it would take me to plant my flowers. I grabbed my big Utes umbrella and went out to plant my flowers. Don't think the umbrella stopped the dive bombing because it didn't. The Robin never hit the umbrella or my head, but came within inches. He would let me know he was mad by constantly chirping and cackling at me. Once in a while he would get quite which worried me more because I couldn't tell where he was. I felt offal. I can't blame the Robin for wanting to protect his babies, but I had to plant my flowers. So thankfully I was able to finish my planting Sunday morning. Needless to say every time I walk out my front door I see "the" Robin and he is fine with me as long as I don't go near the tree.

Ryan also had to mow the lawn and he was a little apprehensive about mowing the front around the tree. He was thinking about using his motorcycle helmet, but I told him the umbrella worked fine for me. So he decided to use the umbrella. It was so funny I must say, and he didn't get attacked once. What the heck?! I claim it was the noise of the lawn mower. :) Ryan claims it
s because the Robins like him more.

Here are the commercials I have voiced. I love doing voice overs more than I like being in the commercials, which is weird because my degree is in Broadcast Journalism. I just don't think I'm that great at acting! Give me a mic and a camera and I will go out and get a good story. Acting may not be in my future. So voice overs have become my new favorite thing.

29 weeks!!!

Well I am definitely feeling better than I did two weeks ago. I think my body and mind have finally accepted the fact that I'm pregnant. I went through a crazy spell a few weeks ago where I felt like I was going to go crazy. I'm sure it was my hormones and the chemical imbalance my body is going through but wow, it was not fun. I'm not sure if anyone else has experience this but, I had several anxiety attacks during the day and night where I felt like I couldn't breathe. I didn't want to eat or drink anything in fear I would make my self feel too full. It was not fun at all. My doctor said many women experience these symptoms but hold it in. Those women who hold it in have bad postpartum. So I am glad I was not afraid to talk with family and my doctor about me feelings. I am feeling great now and every day that goes by I get more excited to meet my little man.

Here are my recent prego pictures...29 weeks and counting. Crew is getting more active as the days go by. He is such a kicker and wiggle worm. He use to be so calm and on a schedule, but not any more. It's amazing how much love Ryan and I have for him already. We love you Crew, and we can't wait to have you in our arms! :)

As of May 9th, Ryan and I have been married eight years and the weather this year was very similar to the weather we had on our wedding day eight years ago...cold and rainy. But you know what they say about rain on your wedding day, it's supposedly good luck. I would have to agree because I have an amazing husband, an amazing marriage and life is about to really begin for Ryan and I with Ryan done with school and Crew joining our family in three short months. Ahhh...life is good! :)

We didn't do much for our anniversary this year due to Ryan graduating, we had family in town for the graduation and me being six months pregnant. We are thinking we will go somewhere tropical in January when it's two degrees in Utah. Yep, that's sounds like the perfect time to get away!

So here's to us honey for eight fabulous years...and many more anniversaries and celebrations to come our way! I love you with all my heart, and I couldn't have asked for a better man! XOXO

Ryan graduates with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree!!!

The past few weeks have been eventful and amazing! First on the list is...Ryan graduating from the University of Utah with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree Friday, May 6 2011!! After 9 years of school, hard work and dedication...he did it! He is now Dr. Ryan Lindquist! I could not be more proud of my amazing husband.

It was a bitter sweet day for all of us realizing school has come to an end, and that our lives are about to begin. I am so excited to see what the future holds for Ryan and myself and baby Crew.

I also want to give a shout out to my amazing brother who also graduated from the University of Utah Friday, May 6th with his B.S. in Philosophy. I am so proud of my brother and I am bummed I couldn't be there to watch him walk because Ryan and Jared's graduation were at the same time. I was happy to get pictures of all of us after the graduations. I am one proud wife and sister! Congrats Ryan and Jared!! I love you both so much!

It was so great having Brandon, Amie and our little Bug Sydnie in town for Ryan's graduation! They flew in from North Carolina where Brandon is currently attending Physical Therapy School for the next two years. We didn't think Brandon was going to make it, but they were sneaky and had Brandon come on a separate flight and surprised Ryan. It was so cute because we went to get Amie and Sydnie from my other sister-in-law's house for a Sunday morning breakfast the day after Amie and Sydnie flew in town. We were getting ready to head out when Amie asked Sydnie if they should give Ryan his graduation present early. Ryan and I looked at each other like WHAT? Then Sydnie said, "DADDY!" Ryan and I were still confused, then his twin brother Brandon walked out of the bathroom. I look at Amie with tears in my eyes, then I look at Ryan who had tears in his eyes. It was amazing to have Brandon there for Ryan's big day. That was the best graduation present ever! We love you guys so much!

Busy Weekend

This weekend has been filled with fun and work...from watching my brother and his in-laws run the Salt Lake City Half Marathon, a band photo shoot, 2 hours of weeding, registered at Target and Babies "R" Us and of course cleaning/laundry.

1/2 Marathon:
My brother Jared ran the Salt Lake Marathon and set a personal record of 13.2 in 1 hour 41 minutes! Not to mention, this is 4 months after having his heart ablation surgery. Jared you seriously amaze me. I may be able to beat you on the court here and there, but you've leave me in your cloud of dust when it comes to running! :) Rachel's sister, brother, brother-in-law and dad did amazing too! You are all inspiring and who knows, maybe I will be brave enough to run a 1/2 marathon someday.

Photo Shoot:
I had the opportunity to take pictures of band playing at a local coffee shop this weekend. It was so much fun, and I've known one of the band members since High School...John Craigle. He taught photography Highland High School. It wasn't until college that I got to know John. I have learned so much from him, and it was a blast taking pictures of the band. I also got to use his new Canon 5D Mark II. That camera is amazing! Not to mention it shoots HD video. John and I help each other out on numerous occasions such as weddings, big family pictures, etc. He's going to do my maternity pictures in June/July and I can hardly wait!

Weeds, weeds and more weeds:
Ryan and I woke up at 7 this morning to get some weeding done. It was so nice getting up early and enjoying the beautiful weather and listening to the birds. I love the feeling of getting so much accomplished. It was great looking at the clock at 10am and thinking I still have the entire day to do what ever I want. What a great feeling!

This might sound strange, but I like to weed. I bring out some music and just let my mind escape. If Ryan's out helping me it makes that much better because we talk and he gets a few worms thrown at him! Hahaha :) Don't feel bad for Ryan because he returns the favor, and then tells me the Robins are dropping them on me. Oh how I love to weed.

Baby Registry:
Ryan and I went and got our baby registry done this weekend! It was so much fun! It really puts it in to perspective that all these fun things are going to be for our baby boy. I'm so use to going and picking stuff out for other people, but this time it's for us. This is a fun time in our lives, and we can hardly wait to meet our little Crew!

SUGAR:
Oh and I can't forget to mention Ryan finally had sugar after going 90+ days without it. He has been wanting cheesecake for months now, and he felt it's been a good run without candy/sugar for over 90 days so I said, let's go to the Cheese Cake Factory and get cheesecake. Ryan got the Reeses Chocolate and I got the White Chocolate Coconut...MMMMM! Now we are both cutting back to one treat per week, and no candy in the house. Although I do have these Mexican candy suckers that are to die for. They are sweet, sour and spicy all in one. Those don't count as "candy" right? :)

20 Week Ultrasound Appointment

I can't believe I am half way through my pregnancy! It seems like just the other day Ryan and I were talking about starting a family. I went to the store and bought an ovulation kit, and then the next month I was pregnant.

Today was my 20 week ultrasound appointment. I was a little nervous for this appointment, but not nearly as nervous as my first appointment when we went to hear the heart beat. I was anxious to know if Crew was healthy, growing and no medical concerns. Well he passed his first test with flying colors! We have a handsome and healthy baby boy cookin in the oven. It was so fun to see him again through ultrasound, but I must say, it wasn't nearly as relaxing as going to Fetal Foto. I was a little disappointed with the pictures we got of Crew, but I guess this really wasn't a photo shoot, but making sure everything was ok.

One thing Ryan and I found out while I was getting the ultrasound is...I have a 2 inch cyst on my right ovary. They aren't too concerned about it, and spent 5 minutes examining the cyst. It wasn't the most pleasant news, but I was reassured when they took some pictures and really looked closely at the cyst. There wasn't a lot of blood flow going to the cyst, and there weren't any abnormal markings within the cyst. Ryan made me feel better telling me it's nothing to stress over. I wasn't too nervous when they told me about the cyst, just a little concerned. I have my doctors appointment this Friday, and will possibly know a little more about the cyst. None the less, I am feeling great and Crew is healthy. Life is good! :)

Pregnancy...lovin every minute of it!

I am currently 20 weeks along in my pregnancy and I must say this has been a pleasant and amazing experience for me. For those of you women who read my blog, and have had terrible pregnancies, I am so sorry. You may not want to read this next part.

Pregnancy thus far has been so much fun and the best experience ever! I have not witnessed the "morning sickness" at all. I have had a few gagging spells, minimal dizziness around 5 -6 weeks and peeing every two hours in the middle of the night, along with having to pee every 10 minutes, but that is the worst of things. The peeing thing during the day is not much different for me since I have the bladder the size of a peanut. lol I feel so blessed to feel the way I have. I truly believe it is a blessing in disguise considering I am the only one working/bringing in the income to support Ryan and myself. Ryan works 40+ hours per week for free and pays the school for it...go figure! I don't know what I would have done if I was one who was constantly throwing up and miserable. Ryan always teases me an says "you're going to want like 10 kids after this pregnancy." Well I don't know about that, probably just two. :)

Butter cream lotion has been amazing. I put it on nearly every morning and night to help prevent stretchmarks. So far so good. Thank you Heather for that advice.

Speaking of advice, I have found through being pregnant everyone has advice whether it be good or bad. It seems like most people have negative things to say to me about being pregnant and starting a family. I know some things are true, but why do people make it sound so bad. Here are a few that stood out to me...

1. Enjoy your sleep while it last!
2. Prepare for you life to change overnight!
3. Don't plan on getting back into your old clothes!
4. Your going to name him what?
5. I look more pregnant than you!
The list could go on and on, but I will stop there. My goodness people!

I am excited to see what the next four months of pregnancy has in store for me. I am happy I am finally showing because I was beginning to worry. At the 15 week mark I couldn't button my jeans up, so I started wearing the belly bands. I don't know if I was a big fan of those, but I held out and used them for a few weeks.

At the 18 week mark I finally jumped into maternity pants, and WOW...what an amazing difference in comfort. I should have done this at 15 weeks. I also have been finding cute maternity dresses that doesn't look like maternity, and I'll be able to wear them after pregnancy.

Jazz vs Wizards

This past Monday, I won tickets from my work to the Jazz game. They were great seats, row 15 from the floor. I haven't been that close in years! So we invited my brother and his wife to join us. Thanks for joining us Jared and Rachel!

The Jazz game was good, up until OT were they choked and lost 95 to 100. It's been a frustrating season for the Jazz, and I've never been to a game were they have lost, well until now.

The highlight of the game was watching my wonderful friend Bridgett dance with past Jazz Dancers, watching the Jazz Bear pick on people...taking shoes off random people and throwing them into the crowd, helping some guy propose to his girlfriend and picking on this random guy, aka "Tubby" who came out onto the court during every break. It was pure bliss! I even tried to get the Jazz Bear to come pick on Ryan, but no luck. Next time!

Throughout the entire game, I could feel Crew kicking and rolling around like crazy due to the noise and me laughing so hard. I love feeling him move around inside me. It is the coolest feeling ever!

Crew's Room

I know most "soon to be moms" don't start on the nursery until they are 6 or 7 months along, but if you know me, I like things done and ready ahead of time. It could also be because Ryan and I are so excited to be starting a family! :)

I must give a BIG THANKS to my amazing friends Lori and Lisa for doing 95% of the room decor from scratch! I am so jealous of their amazing talents and would refer them to anyone who needs help decorating a room. We went shopping for the bedroom decor last Saturday, March 19th and they came over on Friday, March 25th and put it together. Not to mention she they were done by Wednesday. Here's and interesting fact...all the wall decorations, 2 quilts, the bumper, sheet, changing table pad and curtains cost me as much as a bed set at Babies R Us.

Ryan and I bought the crib from Babies R Us and we got the Pottery Barn Dresser and Harley Davidson Rocking Horse off ksl.com for a steal. I love the classifieds...what a way to save money!

Here are some BEFORE and AFTER pictures of Crew's room. The first three pictures are the before pictures I captured with my iphone, the finished pictures are captured with my nice camera. So the room really isn't as lime green as it appears in the first three pictures.

The decor above his bed will hold a colleague of pictures! It was an old door Lori found, and she spray painted it and added scrapbook paper we found at Robert's Arts and Crafts. I can't wait to take pictures of Crew!
We found some big letters at Hobby Lobby and correlated the scrapbook paper from the "door frame" to the letters.
Those little circles on the wall are kitchen table place mats just spray painted. We found those at Ikea.

The adorable numbers picture and frame came from Ikea too. We also got the curtains from Ikea, and Lori and Lisa sewed fabric from the bumper on the bottom of the curtains. You can also see the poke-dot changing pad and the other quilt on the dresser. I loved this idea! I got the piggy bank at Target. I couldn't pass it up...it's the same color as his room.
We got the dark gray material from Ikea, and we Lori and Lisa made two quilts with it. The sheet and the bumper material came from a cute store in Draper...Material Girl.

Ryan and I go in his room a few times a day. It's so fun to think we are going to have a little boy join our family come August! :)

Festival of Colors 2011

The second year at Festival of Colors

This year was fun having Ryan at the Festival of Colors with us. He couldn't go last year due to school. Although I wish we had the weather and the atmosphere we had last year, but it was still fun. We also brought my best friend Mary. This was her first time as well, and she had just ran a half marathon that morning. She was such a trooper. We had to walk about 3/4 of a mile, but Mary powered through it.

One thing I will say is this...we are going to the first throwing session next year because we went to the later session and it was CrAzY!!! I had one guy shove a handful of paint in my face, three people smacked my butt to make hand prints. It was wild to say the least. Honestly people, stay out of my bubble! None the less it was fun, and we all made the most of the cold and crazy people. We didn't end up staying for the big throw because it got too cold. So we enjoyed throwing it on each other and creating some fun memories.

Another fun side note to add to this already crazy story...I still have pink in my hair after 7 washes, soaking my hair in water and having Ryan try to scrub it out. This did not happen last year. What was it about this year?! I have three days of presentations at my work next week, and I have to meet new clients for the first time with pink in my hair. This should be interesting...wish me luck! :)

I am 19 weeks pregnant and rockin the Festival of Colors!

17 weeks pregnant, and now there is an apparent baby bump! Ryan and I went to A Pea in a Pod to get me some maternity clothes. They were rather expensive so I got a couple things. But they sure are cute and comfortable. Beats wearing my regular jeans!

I decided to take before and after pictures of the nursery. These are obviously the before, and the after is soon to come. My amazing friend Lori and her twin sister Lisa are helping me design the nursery. I went shopping last Saturday with Lori and we had a blast. She is going to make the bedding and wall decor. I could not believe the amazing ideas she had. She found things I would have never put on the wall or in a bedroom for that matter. She saved me hundreds of dollars, and I am so grateful for her! She just sent me an email tonight saying she is done with everything. Yes, three days and she is done with my nursery decor and bedding. She is amazing!!! If you ever need someone to help you design a room, let me know and I will give you her info. Thank you Lori and Lisa so much! I owe you! :)

12 weeks pregnant! Finally starting to get a little bump. I am in the awkward stage where my jeans are not closing. Thank heavens for belly bands...for now.
I have loved being pregnant. No sickness, just a few gagging spells here and there, but other than that nothing! So far so good!

15 week ultra sound at Fetal Foto. We went early because we could wait to find out the sex of our baby! :) Best experience! We got prints, a CD with all the pictures and a DVD with music for $69. So worth it!

Here is our growing baby boy...Crew Castle Lindquist!!! This is the name Ryan and I love and have decide on.

After the third pregnancy test, I finally started to believe I was pregnant. So this is when I was eight weeks pregnant. I had to take one bare belly shot!

December was a fun, crazy and eventful month for Ryan and I.
Took two pregnancy test, well actually three, two in December and one in January. I could not believe I was pregnant! What an amazing feeling to see two lines! I seriously didn't believe it because I didn't feel sick. The only thing that was different was when Ryan and I were in North Carolina visiting Brandon, Amie and Syd. I noticed I was dizzier than normal.
Had to post this because Ryan has an idea he was thinking about inventing some day. Then we go to Panda Express and this is what he got. We thought it was cool!

The scariest drive Ryan and I have ever been through. After our crazy adventure trying to get back home from North Carolina, we drove home from Vegas. It was a rain drive that turned into snow in a blink of an eye! Not to mention we were in a little Toyota Carola. Not fun!

My adorable Grandma and Grandpa Buddy! Their last name is really McEwan, but I have called them Grandma and Grandpa Buddy since I could talk. They share the same birthday January 4th. My Grandma is 85 and my Grandpa is 89. I sure do love them, and they sure do love each other!

I got to meet Elmo and Cookie Monster on the set of GTU (Good Things Utah). They were a lot of fun, and the kids in the studio audience were in heaven.

HELLO SNOW!!! We got over 10 inches of snow over night! I could not believe it! We haven't seen this in years. Comet sure had a blast in the deep snow!

Our fire-pit smothered in snow. Winter came before we knew it!

Rachel and Jared joined Ryan and I for the last rivalry U of U vs BYU at Rice Eccles Stadium. Needless to say...it was epic! U of U won and it was a nail bitter game! GO UTES!

Ok, it's time to play catchup for the last time!!! I have promised myself to write every Sunday so I can keep up with all the fun and crazy things going on in my life. I need to get use to writing every week so I can keep a journal of our little man who will be joining our family in August!!!

Grace turns 9

I can't believe how fast my nieces and nephew are growing up. We just celebrated Grace's 9th birthday. It seems like yesterday I was meeting her for the first time, Ryan and I were dating and she was 5 months old. There was an instant connection and bond between Grace and I. She is turning into a tween on us at the age 9. It really amazes me how time flies It's almost bitter sweet! I love to watch them grow, but why does it have to go so fast?! None the less we had a great time celebrating Grace's birthday!

I can't say enough how much I love the 4th of July! It's an amazing day and I love being an American! We are so lucky to live her in this beautiful country and state.

Every year Ryan and I go to breakfast, usually at the Original House of Pancakes...yum-yum, but this time I wanted to go with Ryan's family to the Murray parade, followed by breakfast at Village Inn. Ryan's sister in-laws were sweet and paid for everyone's breakfast, so generous! We've never been and it was so fun and amazing to watch! Ryan isn't much of a parade guy, but he seemed to enjoy this parade. I think he'll enjoy it more when we have kids.

In the afternoon we meet up with Brandon, Amie, Sydnie, Jared, Rachel, Travis, Kim and who ever else wants to tag along, thanks for joining us Mary! We go to Sugar House Park for KFC, activities and fireworks! I've been going to Sugar House Park since I was a baby, and I'm so glad the community came together and saved the Sugar House fireworks...few! I don't know what I'd do with out them.

My amazing friend Mary who I've know for 18 years, wow really?! Yep, 18 years gave me an amazing birthday surprise...she took me to Lady Antebellum and Tim McGraw! It was the best concert. We were more excited to see Lady A than Tim McGraw. Lady A was amazing, and I want to see them again this fall when they come back to SLC. Thank you so much Mary for the AmAzInG surprise, you are such a dear friend to me and I cherish our friendship, our talks and our sisterly bound. I love ya girl! I can't wait to go skydiving with you next year!

I have so many things to be thankful for, including my parents who fell in love and gave me the gift of life! I love the dearly and they've been such an amazing example to me. I am who I am today because of them! Thanks Mom and Dad...I love you so much!

I sure do love running through the sprinklers with my nieces! I feel like a kid all over again! We have so much fun together. I can't believe how big they're getting. Grace is 8, Megan is 5 and Sydnie is 3 (almost 4). They are growing so fast and I love watching them change every year! I can't wait to have my little nephew Will running through the sprinklers with us. Maybe next year!

Summer Fun and a Sleep over at aunt Tanelle's House

Let me just tell you how much I love my nieces and nephew! They are so much fun! In the summer I lover playing in the water with them. I feel like I'm a kid again...I never want to loose that feeling! :)

I also had ALL three nieces over for a sleepover before Sydnie moves to North Carolina in a few short days. :( The sleep over was so much fun. We played, then we did fireworks, then we slept in my backyard in a tent. These girls are so good, and amazing sleepers! I can't wait for the next sleepover! I was telling Ryan how I loved the house being noisy. I can't wait to have kiddos of my own!

They loved wearing my slippers, and yes, I have three pair because I love these slippers so much! I call them my animals because they are furry like an animal! :)

I'm really not sure how I got so lucky with this shot. I set the camera on timer hoping all the kids and adults would look with out any blinkers and I did it!

I sure do love my family and I feel very blessed to have amazing people surrounding me. This is probably the last family picture for awhile since Brandon, Amie and Sydnie are moving to North Carolina August 13th. We are going to miss them so much! It won't be the same without them, but we couldn't be more excited for Brandon getting into UNC Chapel Hill to become a Physical Therapist, and Amie's family lives in NC. They are excited to have her closer to home. I just hope we can get them back to Utah after Brandon's done in three years. Ryan and Brandon have talked about starting their own Pharmacy and Physical Therapy business, so they better come back! LoL :)

Motorcycle Accident

The really strange part about this accident is this morning I was letting Ryan know that it was going to be a windy day with micro-bursts. In a way I was hinting it may not be a good idea to take your bike. He said, "I haven't decided yet." Which to me means...I'm taking the bike.

Ryan was driving to work at 8:30am this morning. He was on 5600 West and in the intersection of 5400 South preparing for a left hand turn. He saw this car merge over into the "designated" "right hand turn only" lane going right. So Ryan began to turn left slowly thinking the girl was going to merge into the inside lane and Ryan was going to merge into the outside lane. Then all of a sudden Ryan notices that the girl is no longer turning right and is heading straight for him, and that's when Ryan gets T-boned at 30 MPH. His bike was thrown further into the intersection and he was tossed up onto the hood of the car. Once he was on the hood of the car that's when the girl hit her brakes sending Ryan flying 10 yards off her car. Ryan told me he got up and was limping a bit and everyone came rushing over to him asking him if he was ok. There were people stopping traffic, telling Ryan to sit down, but Ryan was too worried about finding a witness...which he did thank heavens. Turns out the girl was preparing to turn right until her "back-seat-driver" mom told her to go straight. So she made an improper lane change hitting Ryan. So instead of going right she continued going straight. She got a ticket and so did Ryan. We are both dumbfounded that Ryan got a ticket. The police officer said that in Utah you have to yield to people making right hand turns. WHAT?!! Ok, I understand that law if the lane you are driving in is a lane you can go straight through or make a right hand turn, but not a "designated" right hand turn!!! So I think we are going to try to fight it. Ryan was taken away from the scene in a ambulance to Pioneer Valley Hospital.

Another strange thing is...every morning I know Ryan is riding his motorcycle I get to work and I look at the clock between (9:00-9:15 thinking ok, I haven't heard from Ryan so I know he made it safe to his internship out in Saratoga Springs. Well no different today...9:00...few...he's safe. Then 9:18 comes around and my cell phone rings and I see Ryan's face on my screen. I start thinking maybe he forgot something because today was his last day at his internship in Saratoga Springs. Then I thought, oh no, he got into an accident. So I answered and he said hello hunny, and I said hi, what's up. He said I've been in an accident, but I'm ok. The first words that came out of my mouth was...were you on your motorcycle? He replied yes, but I'm ok. He told me what happened and that he was at Pioneer Valley Hospital just 5-10 minutes from my work. I held it together for a moment, but then I started balling because the thing I feared most about Ryan having a motorcycle had come true. Everyone at my work came rushing over gave me tons of support and hugs and said go see your husband. My manager and co-employees are so awesome! I sat down for a couple minutes taking a few deep breaths to calm my self down for the drive over to the hospital. Once at the hospital I walked into the room Ryan was in and saw him sitting in a bed and I walked over to him crying and gave him a big hug. We both began to cry realizing how amazing it was that he was alive and doing ok. I asked him what hurt and he said his left quad, his left ankle was swollen, his right foot had a little bruise from the car hitting him and the road rash on his right arm. That is all! Thank heavens he was wearing his helmet and we still can't figure out how is right leg wasn't crushed between his motorcycle and the car when the car hit him. It truly is a miracle that nothing serious happened to him, and I believe someone was watching out for him. The only reason he got the road rash was from being launched from the car and Ryan usually wears his safety jacket, but it was going to be 98 degrees today and those jackets aren't very breathable.

Right now I have mixed feelings about Ryan getting another motorcycle. I know he wants another one, but I'm a little sick about it. All I know is that I'm happy the love of my life is safe and with me tonight. Right now, that's all that matters to me! :) These pictures are taken minutes after Ryan was released from the hospital. We went over to the junk yard to pick up his motorcycle. Thank heavens for his brother Ron and his girlfriend Emily came to help us get the motorcycle. These pictures don't do justice. You can't really see the detail of the damage on to the motorcycle. I took pictures this evening showing closeups of the damage that I will post. For now it's been a long day and I am tired!
